New Year's goal...

Got any question about which direction you want to go this year?
"Put your best foot forward, and go for it!" - is often the advice you will hear.
But is this really, godly council?

This picture of Aubrey makes me smile - because every kid does this at some point in their lives.  But isn't it true of us, too?   Sometimes we just don't know if we're coming or going.
That's why I love these verses in Proverbs chapter 4 verses 10-19.  They remind us to walk ~ in Wisdom.  I can think of  NO greater goal for the New Year, then this...

"Listen, my son, accept what I say, and the years of your life will be many.
I guide you in the way of wisdom and lead you along straight paths.
When you walk, your steps will not be hampered. when you run you will not stumble.
Hold on to instruction, do not let it go, guard it well, for it is your life.
Do not set foot on the path of the wicked or walk in the way of evil men.
Avoid it, do not travel on it; turn from it and go on your way.
For they cannot sleep till they do evil, they are robbed of slumber till they make someone fall.
They eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of violence.

The path of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn, shining ever brighter
till the full light of day.
But the way of the wicked is like deep darkness, they do not know what makes them stumble."

keep reading.... verses 23-27

"Above all else, guard your heart, for it the wellspring of life.
Put away perversity from your mouth; keep corrupt talk far from your lips.
Let your eyes look straight ahead, fix your gaze directly before you.

Make level paths for your feet and take only ways that are firm
Do not swerve to the right or the left; keep your foot from evil."

Are you on a course of direction that you know isn't right?  Maybe, you're not even sure?  You feel the pull to either way and you feel confused or scared.

Friend, you can have SINCERITY and still be completely WRONG.

Keep in mind, you cannot go "the road" alone. You need HIM!  Stop.  Consider your path. Pray for a softened heart, seek godly council... seek, the WAY!  and allow him to walk before you, he will lead you in paths of truth and peace.  For a similiar thought from last year, read here.
