31 days :: "House"pitality

. .. .. .. . . . .. .. .. . .. . .. .. . .. .. . .. .. .. .. .. .. . .. .. . .. .. .. ... .. .. .. . .
This word "house"pitality is not original with me.  But I love the word.  I love the idea.

After establishing the want to, and the why we can... it's then time to start the practicing.
Take some encouragement from Scripture.

"Share with God's people who are in need.  Practice hospitality." ~ Romans 12:13

"Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers" ~ Galatians 6:10

Read on.  Here is some true "house"pitality in action.

***

It's the holidays.  You and your own little family plan to be out of the state, out of the country, for about a week.
You hear that your friend has family coming to visit... and there are too many for her to "put up".
Your house will be vacant.  It has plenty of room...
More then enough space to house them - if they want.

You offer up your home.
Your entire house is open to  about 15 people... to spend the Christmas Holiday weekend... and you're not even going to be there.

Although these folks are not (completely) perfect strangers... still, you don't really know them, know them.
Yet, you trust.

You're willing to share your personal place and space with those in need.

This is a perfect picture of extending hospitality, in my book.  Wouldn't you say?

Oh how refreshing to be one of the guests in that home, that year.  The keepers of the home weren't even there...but their love & care was greatly communicated to those of us who stayed in their home. And all throughout that weekend, we felt so taken aback by their "silent" generous hand of hospitality beautifully placed on display.

It's truly inspiring to want to pay it forward.
