{recipe} A Great Pumpkin Cheese Ball

. ... .... .... .. .. .. ... ... .. .... ... .... ... .... ... .. .. . .. ....

***
I found this recipe in a favorite cookbook of mine... and actually made it, for the first time, a couple of years ago.  Quite delicious!!  And it's a fun and {Fall-ish} festive way to serve up an appetizer at your next get-together.  But darn it if I didn't take a photo of it, when I made it.  So, I snapped a photo of the recipe book's photo - so you could at least see what this cheese ball is meant to resemble. :)

A Great Pumpkin Cheese Ball
8-oz. pkg. cream cheese, softened
10-oz. container sharp Cheddar cold-pack cheese spread
1/4 cup crumbled blue cheese
2 t. Worcestershire sauce
1/4 tsp. celery salt
1/4 tsp. onion salt
1/2 cup walnuts, finely chopped
1 tsp. paprika
Garnish: 1 pretzel rod, broken in half (for the stem - or use a real stem from a pumpkin), assorted crackers.

Blend together cheeses until smooth.  Stir in Worcestershire sauce, celery salt and onion salt, adding more to taste as desired.  Shape into a ball and set on a serving plate; cover and chill for 2-3 hrs., until firm.
If desired score vertical lines with a knife to resemble a pumpkin.  Toss walnuts with paprika;  press into surface of the cheese ball.  Break pretzel rod in half  and insert for a stem.  Arrange crackers around cheese ball.  Makes 10-12 servings.

    1. Hey Connie - good to hear from you. Yes! it is a lovely, rainy, drizzly sort of day. I love days like this. There is a roaster chicken in the oven... twill be ready to "pick" later this afternoon. Coffee is on! The candles are lit... the girls are playing nicely together.
(Hand-washing) dishes are next on the list to make happen.. all in all it's a great day!!

  2. Super cute! I might make this for Thanksgiving dinner at my parents.

We had the rain and drizzle yesterday. Today is cool, but the sun is shinning and sky is a clear blue. A little sunshine always lifts my spirits!
