{yuletide carols} We Three Kings

. ... ... .. ... ... .. ... .. ... .. .... .. ... .. .. ... .. .. .. .
“And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshiped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense and myrrh."
~ Matthew 2:1-2

We three kings of Orient are;
  bearing gifts we traverse afar,
field and fountain, moor and mountain,
following yonder star.

O star of wonder, star of light,
star with royal beauty bright,
westward leading, still proceeding,
guide us to thy perfect light.

Born a King on Bethlehem's plain,
gold I bring to crown him again,
King forever, ceasing never,
over us all to reign.

O star of wonder, star of light,
star with royal beauty bright,
westward leading, still proceeding,
guide us to thy perfect light.

Frankincense to offer have I;
incense owns a Deity nigh;
prayer and praising, voices raising,
worshiping God on high.

O star of wonder, star of light,
star with royal beauty bright,
westward leading, still proceeding,
guide us to thy perfect light.

Myrrh is mine; its bitter perfume
breathes a life of gathering gloom;
sorrowing, sighing, bleeding, dying,
sealed in the stone-cold tomb.

O star of wonder, star of light,
star with royal beauty bright,
westward leading, still proceeding,
guide us to thy perfect light.

Glorious now behold him arise;
King and God and sacrifice:
Alleluia, Alleluia,
sounds through the earth and skies.

O star of wonder, star of light,
star with royal beauty bright,
westward leading, still proceeding,
guide us to thy perfect light.

I continue to be amazed how I've never really paid close attention (over the years) to the lyrics of so many carols..
And yes!  while Christmas is over..
It really is something that should live on and on in our hearts throughout the year!  Amen?

Be sure to come back tomorrow as I squeeze in the final MUGS & MUFFINS for the year of 2013.

  1. I think this one is absolutely fitting as the Wisemen showed up around 2 years after the birth of the King...Love it! Thanks for making me look at the traditional hymns differently. Have a great day! Blessings!
