When Queen Anne Comes to Call...

.. .. ... .. .... .. ... .. .... .. ... .. .. .. .... . .. .. . .. . .. .

What a desolate place would be a world without flowers!
It would be a face without a smile; a feast without a welcome.
Are not flowers the stars of the earth?...
And are not our stars the flowers of heaven?  ~ Mrs. Balfour

Queen Anne always evokes a sweet memory!
Thank you, for coming to call..Queen Anne. Thank you!

  1. I love Queen Anne's lace! SO delicate! Do your children have fun using food coloring in water to turn the "lace" a different color?

  3. Bevy,
Don't flowers make such a huge difference in our lives? The boys and I planted zinnia seeds that we had saved and they are so bright and cheery. Then there are the wildflowers that get grabbed by the hand full and stuffed into the jars. Love it all!

And I can't wait to make that coffee cake! I have company coming this weekend and it looks so delicious! Thank you for sharing your sweet heart, Bevy. I always can see by your writing how much you love the encourage others.

Have a beautiful rest of your week and weekend!
    xoxo

    1. I post so many photos of flowers - ya'll are probably tired of it. (like someone else said about her front porch...:)) and zinnia seeds. I had some that a certain friend of ours sent me, via snail mail, and when I wanted to sow the seed I COULD NOT find them anywhere... after I bought starters and they were already in full bloom... I finally found the packet. I don't have anymore room in my beds for them now... so they're in my freezer for next year!

How did the Blueberry coffee cake turn out, for you??

I have always heard it you place it in food color water..it will take the color...I have always wanted to try that.lots of folks do not like it and consider it a weed...I think It is a beautiful weed-flower...lol Have a great day! Blessings!

  5. You've captured it's beauty perfectly!!! I like to press Queen Anne's Lace, use brown craft paper (you know the stuff that comes in big rolls that can be used for just about everything) as it's background and frame it. It's so beautiful in it's simplicity. Melanie P.

    1. That's interesting!! We're - well, we have been - dealing with chigger bites in the kids. But, I don't know that it's come from the Queen Anne's Lace. Though you're probably right, about them being known for them!!

Lots of baths and calamine lotion to calm the chigger bites. Extra sheet washing too!! :)

These QAL photos are from another time and place... just brought back to memory because we LOVE, LOVE seeing them all over - while driving, etc.

  7. chiggers need nail polish. Put some clear (or bright red!) on the "bite" (they are actually little nasties under the skin) and it will suffocate them. I looked like I had measles on my legs as a child!
